Day of Tears

Amidst the mainstage productions happening at New Britain’s Hole in The Wall Theater, there is no shortage of shorter-run showcases happening in between. On Saturday, May 20th, Hole in The Wall Theater is proud to present one of those showcases. Written and directed by Laurie Maria Cabral (who will also be directing
HITW’s next mainstage show, The Niceties), HITW presents a stage reading of Julius Lester’s Day of Tears.

Adapted from the novel of the same name, we are told the story of an 1859 slave auction, the unending downpour that accompanied it, and the lives of those that were forced to live through such times. An event during American history not many know about, during a time that should not be forgotten even today.

Day of Tears will be held on May 20th at 8 pm with a special performance by Nzinga’s Daughters. Tickets are on sale for $20.00.

We look forward to Day of Tears and its message of “changing hearts by changing minds.”
