MEET THE ACTOR: LINT’S KEVIN LIFTIG

LINT! The Musical’s Kevin Liftig sees the Hole in the Wall Theater community as “a group of people coming together to put on shows, but it’s not one singular vision. It comes out of everybody involved. It comes through the Board, the General Meetings, the Directors, etc. There is a unique feel to all of the shows. There are so many voices coming together to make something better than what they can do alone.”

Kevin is a proud member of this counter culture community, having appeared in HITW’s Reefer Madness in 2012. He also stage managed a few shows throughout 2010. He is recently making people laugh as LINT’s Gary. Kevin describes Gary as “the guy whose wife cheated on him. He is at the Laundromat, being pathetic. He has a goofy side, but that is overshadowed by the cynicism. He learns how to have fun again.”

Kevin started out as a singer, but he always had a love for musicals. He started doing theatre at Conard High School in West Hartford. He also performed with West Hartford Summer Arts Festival and University of Connecticut. He has worked with only one community theatre group – HITW.

“Everybody comes in really prepared,” he said. “We feed off of each other’s energy. This experience has helped me grow and stretch myself as an actor. “

By day, Kevin teaches math at North Haven High School. Working on theatre at night balances him out. “Theater is a nice creative release in terms of being open to interpretation and collaborating with people,” he said. “It balances out the left brain mathematics, and I get a chance to play.”

Come see Kevin and the rest of the cast in LINT! Performances run Fridays & Saturdays from January 22nd through February 13th at 8:00pm with one Sunday matinee on January 31st at 2:00pm.
