With the year continuing to chug along, we at Hole in the Wall Theater are continuing to put together main shows and showcases alike. This year, we are excited to put together a very special showcase. In honor of the 80th anniversary of its original broadcast, we will be presenting an old time-esque radio show production of the infamous radio drama, The War of the Worlds! Originally hosted by the legendary Orson Welles, we are giving the broadcast of an alien invasion on Earth new life at our favorite theater. Complete with original imagery being projected along with live sound effects, it’s the perfect Halloween event, as it broadcasts the frightening encounters with invaders attacking our less than prepared little world.
As always, we are on the lookout for performers willing to take on the roles of the various characters that comprise this show. Auditions will be held at HITW on August 26th and on the 27th at 7pm with potential callbacks at a later date. Eleven (11) actors will be sought out to provide voices for multiple characters (impersonations of Orson Welles are NOT necessary). All are welcome to attend as many characters will be gender neutral and will vary in age. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
The production goes up for four (4) shows on October 26th, 27th, 28th (matinee), and a special anniversary performance on October 30th. Questions, comments and concerns can be made to our director, Thom Ozimek (drzace@pacball.net), our producer, Valerie Ruel (valerie888@excite.com), or head of marketing, Gene Tellier (genetellier@yahoo.com). Further information on the auditions, its rehearsals, as well as contact info for the theater and future audition and volunteer opportunities can be found on www.hitw.org.
