Upcoming in March 2019 at HITW

Hello Hole in the Wall Family!

March is here! And with March, like every month of the year, comes opportunity. The opportunity to help bring art and theater to the good people of New Britain, Connecticut. Upcoming shows, auditions and more are on their way.

First thing’s first: our next show! From the mind of the legendary William Shakespeare, Hole in the Wall Theater is proud to present the classic Scottish tragedy, Macbeth! Directed by Mallory Spencer, we take a trip back in time into the gritty and fog-filled streets of film noir as we tell the story of the title character, Macbeth. As he is prophesized to be king by three witches, he learns the hard way that this road is a dark and gritty one full of murder and madness.

The cast is set, rehearsals are underway, and tickets are available now! Just head to hitw.tix.com to get those tickets ahead of time for $17 ($12 for students/seniors). If you pay at the door, the tickets are $20 ($15 for students/seniors). If you want to help finish the set, our final weekend of building happens on March 8th at 7pm and March 9th at noon. The show starts up on March 15th and will run for four (4) weekends. Friday and Saturday shows will be happening at 8pm, and our Sunday matinee will happen on March 24th at 2pm. For the more cash strapped, we have our traditional Pay-What-You-Can Night on March 22nd. We hope to see you there.

Opening weekend for Macbeth happens to fall on St. Patrick’s Day weekend. While many folks will be partying that weekend, you can join us not only for Macbeth, but for auditions for our new show, Champagne and Licorice! We are extremely excited for this new play from Scott Stephen Kegler, the mind behind Whacked, A Cup of Joe at the Iffy Fish, and the show that started our current season, Final Arrangements

The story, being brought to life by the directing talents of Christina Giannelli, tells the story of Silky, a terminally ill young lady traveling home for New Year’s Eve. Much like real life, traveling to meet the family will result in drama, revelations, and drunk clowns…literal drunk clowns, in this case. Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day) and Monday, March 18th at 8pm at Hole in the Wall Theater, with potential callbacks on Tuesday, March 19th. Check out our audition notice for details, requirements, and a full character list. ALL are welcome to audition. Champagne and Licorice will run between May 17th and June 8th

For anyone who wants to be part of the entertainment right away, we have just the thing. The return of the Open-Mic Night is happening this March! Wednesday, March 27th at 7:30 pm is when we open the doors to the talents that New Britain has to offer and 8 pm is when the entertainment starts. Whether it’s singing, dancing, instruments, magic, etc… if you have a talent, we want to see it. ALL are welcome to show their talent or just enjoy the show. And, thanks to our sponsorship with United Bank, this show is FREE (if you don’t count any willing donations)!

As always, the doors are always open to anyone willing to lend a hand in our productions. Feel free to stop by on March 20th for our general meeting. Here, you can find out about opportunities to volunteer for working concessions during shows (where you can see the show for FREE), work tech, and even put forth your own ideas for future shows. Just walk through the door, and you are a member of our HITW family.

Never be afraid to help donate to Hole in the Wall in order to keep things rolling. We are non-profit, every dollar we make goes into making more theater. Check out our website, www.hitw.org to find out how to do just that. Also be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube! We hope to see you this month for the opportunity to see what we at Hole in the Wall Theater have to offer. Thank you!
