November Events at HITW

Once again, November has come around and the year is slowly coming to a close. So, we at Hole in the Wall Theater are beginning to wrap up the year of 2018 the only way we know how: entertaining you. We have one more main stage production as well as more opportunities to be part of the fun. So, let’s dive in, shall we?

Our last major production of the year begins on November 16th with the opening of A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen. Directed by Steven Siemiatkoski, we are told the story of Nora, a housewife whose troubles and tribulations stare her in the face. But, one can only take so much until enough is enough. The show will run for nine (9) shows from November 16th to December 8th on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with one (1) Sunday matinee at 2pm. General admission, as always, is $20 ($15 for students/seniors with ID), but if you buy online at www.hitw.org, your ticket is only $17 ($12 for students/seniors with ID). So, get those tickets now and let Nora’s story be told.

With the beginning of one show comes the planning of the next. On November 18th and 19th, auditions are going to be held for our first show of 2019: Keely and Du by Jane Martin. Directed by Kristen Bennett, this is the tale of one young woman, Keely, who is kidnapped and being pressured to keep the life slowly growing inside her alive. A serious play on serious issues, we look forward to all (and we do mean ALL) who wish to come and help breathe life into a tale that is quite relevant to today’s social issues. Auditions will be at 7:30pm on the aforementioned dates with possible call backs on Tuesday, November 20th. Keely and Du runs from January 18th to February 9th, and we look forward to all who wish to be part of it.

If you don’t think you can handle the big shows, we still have our Open Mic showcases: one on Saturday, November 10th, and the other on Wednesday, November 28th. We want all of you with any talent under the sun: song, dance, magic, comedy, etc. Don’t be shy, step on up! $5 and a talent is needed for the participants, $10 and a free night for those looking for entertainment. The doors open at 7:30pm for the sign-ups, and the stage belongs to you lucky entertainers at 8pm.

Those looking for more behind-the-scenes stuff are welcome to stop by our work calls for A Doll’s House. We’re still putting together the set and will continue to do so until the show goes up. There is one (1) upcoming weekend left, so that’s two (2) chances to help put things together. Work calls are Friday, November 9th, at 7pm and Saturday, November 10th, at 12pm.

Finally, we still have our monthly general meeting. This one will be on Wednesday, November 7th at 7pm. The only requirements to become a member of our theater family is to just step through the door. Help us plan our shows, come up with new ones, maybe even start planning on pitching a show yourself. We also have a board meeting coming up on Sunday, November 4th. You don’t have to be a board member for your voice to be heard, so feel to stop by and help our board members keep things on track.

Our theater is always looking for any help you’re willing to give. You can still donate at the theater or through our website; every penny helps keep the theater alive, so don’t be scared to help however you can. We are looking forward to our upcoming November, and we hope you are, too. Thank you!
