Spring at Hole in the Wall Theater!

Greetings Hole in the Wall family and friends!

April is here and Spring has sprung. The weather is (slowly) getting warmer, but whether rain or shine, we at Hole in the Wall will bring the light of theater to the good people from and around New Britain. Come see what’s in store for you in the month of April showers.

First up, there is only ONE WEEKEND LEFT of our current production, William Shakespeare’s Macbeth! That means this is your last chance to see the story of Macbeth as he goes down the road of madness and murder on his way to becoming king and beyond. A dark and gritty tale told in the film noir style of old ought not to be missed. So, get those tickets now ($17 general, $12 student/senior) or pay at the door ($20 general, $15 student/senior). Be sure to check out the cast interview on Facebook to get a glimpse behind the scenes and meet some of our amazing cast.

Before the show swing by Five Churches Brewing right down Arch Street, stop for a pizza pie and some beer, then bring the receipt back to HITW for $5 off admission. Oh, and don’t forget to bring a growler with you, because HITW is BYOB.

With the end of one show comes the beginning of another. We will be preparing for a BRAND-NEW SHOW! Written by Scott Kegler and directed by Christina Gianelli, the dynamic duo that brought you this season’s opener, Final Arrangements, bring you a new comedy-drama, Champagne and Licorice. It’s the tale of a young woman’s possible final New Year’s journey as she travels home to deal with family drama, breaking news, and (literal) drunk clowns. Builds for the set will be happening soon, so keep an eye on our calendar and stop on by to lend a hand. Champagne and Licorice has been cast and goes up May 17th and will run until June 8th.

As we await Champagne and Licorice to start, we’ll still be bringing the entertainment in the form of our newest showcase alongside our friends at Backyard Theater Ensemble, The North Plan by Jason Wells. Directed by Dina Addorisio, this politically charged comedy is one man, Carlton, chased by a new regime as they try to get back what he has stolen. The only people who can help him, however, is a hodgepodge of folks in a police station in the Ozarks. This show runs for only one weekend with three shows on April 12th (8pm) and 13th (2pm and 8pm). Get those tickets online or pay at the door (same price as our mainstage shows), and see what becomes of our friend, Carlton.

Those wishing to hit the stage right away are more than welcome to join us for our Open-Mic Night on April 24th. If you have a talent (singing, dancing, magic, comedy) and $5 (admittance fee), stop by and show the folks of New Britain what you can do. If you have $10 and a free Wednesday night, you can kick back for a night of entertainment. The doors open at 7:00pm, and 7:30pm the show starts.

If you want to learn more about getting involved with us at HITW, our next General Meeting on April 17th at 7pm, and our Annual Meeting is May 8th at 7 pm. As always, we’ll be going over what’s been happening with our shows as well as possible future shows. Perhaps you can put forward our next show idea. The only admission required is if you have a way to come through our doors. You’re a voting member that easily!

It’s the folks like you that keep HITW running. Never be afraid to donate what you can to help keep theater alive in New Britain. Feel free to go to our website to donate, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. We look forward to Spring at Hole in the Wall Theater, and we hope you come join us. Thank you!
