Spring Starts at HITW!

Hello Hole in the Wall Family!

March is here! The time for the color green and good luck. And, as luck would have it, we at HITW have just the thing for the people of New Britain to brighten the day as we head to the end of Winter and into the beginning of Spring. So, keep reading and see what luck has in store!

First up, our next mainstage show! We’re taking a road trip to Grover’s Corner in our production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town! Directed by Caleb Warner and produced by Mary Roane, we are given the tour by an all-knowing stage manager into the lives of the townspeople and even what lays beyond that life. The show kicks off on Friday the 13th (quite the irony, yes?) of March and will run until April 4th on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with one matinee at 2pm on Sunday, March 29th. Tickets are available right now on hitw.org ($23 general admission, $20 for students/seniors), so get them now to visit Our Town.

With the beginning of one show comes the prep for the next! On Sunday, March 15th and Monday, March 16th at 7pm, we will be holding auditions for the laugh out loud sci-fi parody, The Trouble with Space Cannibals! Brought to you by the delightfully twisted minds of Bill Arnold (School for Manners, Lint! The Musical) and Scott Stephen Kegler (Final Arrangements, Champagne and Licorice), we meet the crew of the starship, The LeVarr Burtonne (why does that sound familiar?). The crew go about their day and quickly find out that past mistakes can really come back to bite you (in more ways than one)! All are welcome and we look forward to all ready to go where no theater has gone before!

But wait, there’s more! Another set of auditions will be held for our last show of the 2019-2020 season, Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night! Directed by Steven Simpson (director of The Glass Menagerie and A Doll’s House) and produced by Kristen Bennett (director of Keely and Du), we look at one day in the life of the dysfunctional life of the Tyrone family and all the drama, sickness, and addiction that plagues them. Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 22nd and Monday, March 23rd at 7pm.

Auditions for both shows will be held at the theater and ALL are welcome to try out. Character lists for available roles as well as show dates can be found at our auditions page. No monologues necessary, but please list any prior theatrical work and any potential date conflicts. We look forward to seeing all of you!

March is the time for celebrating the Irish culture, so (naturally) we have that covered, too! On Saturday, March 7th at 7pm, we will be holding the latest of a favorite HITW tradition, Going for the Green: Ceilidh 2020! Alongside directing the next show, Bill Arnold will be hosting a night of traditional and contemporary Celtic music to get you in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day. Tickets are $20 and available now. Don’t miss out, it’s one night only!

We consider ourselves lucky to be able to put on these performances and we hope you do, too. If you want more intel on what goes on around our favorite theater, follow us on Facebook, our Info Group, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube! Don’t be afraid to stop by on Wednesday, March 18th for our monthly general meeting where you can learn more about what we do and maybe even think of putting on a show of your own. See you on the stage!
