The Niceties

With Spring officially underway and Stranger Still ready to hit the stage soon, New Britain’s Hole in The Wall Theater is ready to gear up for another mainstage production. Directed by Laurie Maria Cabral and produced by John Bosco and Hilary Lang, HITW is proud to present a play relevant to current events and brings to mind the words “Power, Race, History, Privilege, Woke, Social Justice, Gender, and Perspective”: Eleanor Burgess’ The Niceties.

“‘Choices have consequences,’ a professor admonishes a student in The Niceties. In this multifaceted drama by Eleanor Burgess, a critique of a paper becomes a debate about race and American history. During the conversation, the characters choose words, and actions, that disrupt their lives.”

The Niceties will be going up on Friday, June 16th and will run for three (3) weekends until Saturday, July 1 with one Sunday matinee on June 25th.

Hole in The Wall Theater is located at 116 Main Street in New Britain, CT. HITW would like to thank the CT Humanities Council, CT DECD Supporting Arts Grant, and the CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant for the help with the landmark 2022 season and to the State Commission of the Arts General Operating Grant for the current season. With the 2023 season, HITW hopes to continue letting in the light for all the people of New Britain and beyond.
