The New Year is Upon Us!

Hello Hole in the Wall Family!!!

2020 is officially here! The beginning of the NEW YEAR for us means means NEW SHOWS for you! The weather’s cold, but the shows are heating up and getting ready to go, so keep reading to see what’s in store.

We’re hitting the ground running on the first weekend of 2020 as we perform a special showcase with some help from the good folks from Tunxis Stage! Presenting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)! You read that correctly, it’s all of the Bard’s works compacted into one non-stop laugh-riot inducing spectacle. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss your chance to start your year with a laugh! Warning: audience participation is expected!

Of course, we can’t start the new year without a brand-new show! That’s right, our next mainstage production is an original work called The Road to Aracea! Written by Kieran McGowan and directed by Francis A. Daley, we present a sci-fi romantic comedy (yes, that is a thing!) about two pairs of star-crossed lovers as they traverse through the stars and learn that events from the past can have effects on the present!

The curtain goes up on January 24th and runs to February 15th (perfect for couples on Valentine’s Day!) on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with one Sunday matinee on February 2nd! Our traditional Pay-What-You-Can Night will be held on Friday January 31st. Bear in mind, this show marks the beginning of our new ticket prices at $23 general admission and $20 for students and seniors. For more info, read here from HITW Treasurer, Lauren Dellafera. Tickets are available now on the website. So, don’t miss out on a brand-new show for a brand-new year!

For those of you who can’t wait to get ON the stage. We’ve got a few things for you! With the beginning of The Road to Aracea, we will be holding auditions for Thornton Wilder’s Our Town! Directed by Caleb Warner, it’s a look at one couple’s inability to appreciate life, and the inevitability of death in that life. Auditions will be held on Sunday, January 26th, and Monday, January 27th, at 7pm, with possible callbacks on Tuesday, January 28th. Information can be found on our audition page. Please note, all wishing to audition must have a reliable source of transportation. Other requirements will be addressed at auditions, find us on Facebook (or use our contact page) for any questions. We look forward to all potential actors willing to try out.

If you don’t have enough patience to wait to get on stage, we’ve got something for that, too! On January 18th, it is the return of the Open-Mic Night! Know a dance, wanna sing, or do you know how to make cards appear out of thin air? Whatever you can do, we want you to show off. It’s pay-what-can to get in ($10 suggested), 7pm to sign up, and 7:30pm, the stage is yours. Hosted by HITW’s resident music duo, More Wolves, it’s a night to show the talent of the people of New Britain!

If you want to help us out with more things around the theater and backstage, be sure to come to our next General Meeting on Wednesday January 15th at 7pm. Walk in and help us out with everything from future show ideas to volunteering for our concession stand (which gets you into the show for FREE). All are welcome!

Be sure to keep following this website, as well as our pages on Facebook (along with our Info Group), Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube! A new year means new opportunities, so take the opportunity to keep the arts alive in New Britain! See you on the stage! Thank you!
